Very nice tutorial paper. Appendix A is particularly useful. Note that the authors are interested in astrophysical applications rather than tokamak physics, so they use derive the gyrokinetic system in periodic-slab geometry with a uniform equilibrium magnetic field and no mean temperature or density gradients.
